Artist Arthur Morehead who has demonstrated this technique at

The Miromar Design Center

as well as a number of other techniques is a highly sought after expert in his field and has been in the painting business professionally for over 30 years

“as a child the neighbors, friends, family couldn’t keep me from my creative drive and nothing was safe from receiving my mark, even after taking away my pens, pencils and crayons, did I discover mud, sticks, and charcoal from the old Weber grill”

“I will show you how to do this versatile unique technique with only a few tools are needed.”

Virtually any color can be used and the choice is yours!

That’s right you choose the colors from your local paint store like Sherwin Williams or Ben Moore which must be of a good quality satin paint, don’t skimp on this.

You will need to bring 3 separate colors all mixed in a “Satin” acrylic paint base which one of the colors will be used as a base paint for your “Sample Boards”. Don’t worry I’ll supply the boards which are made of a thick styrene plastic so you will be able to use them over again.

To keep the costs to a minimum there are two options for this class.

Option One

$100.00

Supply your own choice of paint colors and tools which you may already have.

  1. 3 quarts of “satin” acrylic latex paint in your choice of colors
  2. 3  (3″) paint brushes, can be the throw away type
  3. one 4″ roller frame with sleeve for base painting your boards
  4. 1 roll of 1 1/2 inch “blue” low tack faux tape (orange core)
  5. A few “T-shirt quality” rags
  6. An old hair dryer, for drying your sample boards,
  7. Note pad for taking notes on the steps and colors used for each sample made

Option Two

You can choose to let us supply everything for an additional fee of $50.00 to cover the costs of the materials.

I would recommend choosing option one so you can work with the colors you want but you will need to bring everything listed in option one and not just the paint because there will only be enough to go around as per option that each person chooses.

The goal here is to have fun and for you to walk away with the knowledge and confidence to complete a small room or accent area in your own home yourself.

This is a Prerequisite to other faux finishes that I have created from this concept which is only the beginning to opening up the creative process which is hidden in all of us and I will be holding these Saturday classes on a regular basis depending on class attendance and my schedule

Option Two

(Materials included)

$150.00

You may pay by credit card or PayPal by using our secure server, at least 7 days in advance  by mail.

Refund policy

Due to class demand

For classes extending more than 1 day a 50% non-refundable deposit is required 30 days prior to the class date.

One day classes where fees are minimal are to be paid in full at least 14 days prior to the class scheduled. If for any reason the class is canceled it will be rescheduled for a future date and the deposit will be reapplied towards  a  rescheduled class date  for the deposit amount . Due to the fact that the art of decorative finishing is a continued education, results may vary as  per individual based on experience and skill level therefore we cannot guarantee an instructor level end result, but each person will leave with completed samples for which to add to their portfolios to show the extent of the individuals skill level and a certificate showing a course completion to add to their resume.

In the event that the class is not sold out after the 30 day requirement, then the deposit date will be extended to 15 days prior to the class date. A minimum of 6 students are required to hold a scheduled class to cover studio expenses which may or may not result in a cancelation to be rescheduled.

The remaining amount of class fees are to be paid in full the day of the class when you arrive

Please call 239 417 1888 for date extensions if needed on deposits or if there are any other questions
